Ancient Woodland: Many of our ancient woodland species are notoriously poor at dispersing across the landscape. Species such as yellow archangel and herb paris could easily be lost from Somerset's woodlands if the current rate of climate change continues. Bluebells are also under threat.

Great Crested Newts: The warmer summers with lower rainfall will result in many small Great Crested Newtponds seasonally drying up. Great-crested newts breed in spring and lay their lava in these small ponds in the early months of the summer. Larger ponds that are less likely to dry out in the summer often contain fish that predate the newt's larvae, and so the species is likely to suffer from a lack of suitable habitat.
